The Welcome Tent is an ex-army catering tent from 1956, repurposed for PEACE.
After volunteering in the Calais “jungle” in 2015, humanKINDER Founder Emma and Chef husband Sparky, their son Felix and their dog Bo, travelled 16,000 miles around Europe with The Welcome Tent, cooking 'recipes of HOPE' with the people they met.
Their journey connected them with a global community on the ground who are acting with courage and determination, despite the authoritarian conditions which are criminalising solidarity and increasingly ignoring International Human Rights Law.
Food was their universal language. Simple acts performed together, challenging injustice by celebrating our shared humanity, learned from and about each other by preparing, cooking and eating the 'recipes of HOPE' in The Welcome Tent.
Now the stories, recipes, hopes and dreams are being woven into a Manuscript which will document this critical period in all of our lives.
